Boston Marathon blasts: He was waiting to propose to his girlfriend who died

Not only did the twin bombs that shook Americans at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday exposed USA's vulnerability, but the tragedy also gave the country a string of unsung heroes and symbols of tragedy, reminding the superpower and its citizens of a scene straight out of the 9/11 attacks.

A heartbreaking picture of unknown young man mourning over his girlfriend's dead body has set the internet on fire. Twitter user, Brittany Lee posted the picture from her Twitter handle and wrote, "This picture breaks my heart... he was waiting at the finish line to propose to her & she died." According to the buzz on the internet, the man in the picture was hoping that Monday would turn out to be the most memorable day of his life. Sadly, there was a different plan waiting to unfold and the tragedy struck him, along with hundreds of Americans.
