Who is Regina Askia?

Well we aren’t the one asking the questions. It is them. The people who work with her in the US. Her fellow nurses and the medical personnel that she bickers with when she has a few short breaks within her working schedule. I imagine the scenario where she smiles and tells the listening ears that are staring at her that “There’s this handsome guy called RMD. We acted together” and “Oh! I traveled all over the world and men were swarming at my feet”.

She would try to frown in the midst of the explanation “You think I’m kidding” and she’d be cut short by short outbursts of laughter from colleagues, who would quickly hold their lips and burst into another round of laughter.
“Sorry Reg, we believe yo’. Just some hilarious shit yo’ saying”
“For real” Regina would get up from her seat and walk towards her colleagues “I’m serious. I was once the most beautiful girl in Nigeria. Forget about how I look now. It is stress and age”
She would shake her head in pity and go back to her system, her Facebook message and type this to whoever cares.

Well matter-of-factly, Regina Askia who is now Regina Askia-Williams was once the most beautiful girl in Nigeria. She had the looks and accents that made men come tumbling down her feet. She starred in some of Nigeria’s most popular films such as Full Moon and a host of other along with some of Nigeria’s best actors and actresses. Regina was the talk of tabloids (even before the blogs in Nigeria started to exist). Her cat eyes were to die for. However, she left all the fame and fortune and decided to settle down as a married woman in the United States as well as find a lucrative career in Nursing, probably after finding that breaking into Hollywood might be pretty tough.
For her colleagues who doubt her, well, it is a representation of life. Everything comes in phases and everything has its time and time. Who is Regina Askia? She’s the ever-pretty woman who has left her name in the hearts of many and that’ll be hard to erase.

I can never date any of my colleagues

Lets hear her Story aboard.
If the name Lillian Esoro doesn’t ring bell the soap character “Nurse Abigail” in the family comedy soap series “Clinic Matters” is sure to have found her way into your household through her mischiefs and daring exploits in the programme.
But unlike “Nurse Abigail” beautiful, Imo State-born Lillian Esoro is no mischief maker even though she is a pragmatic and down-to-earth person with the look of a ‘damsel in distress’. In this interview with Showtime, she talks about her career, relationships and her nomination as Best Actress, Comedy Category, in the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, AMVCA, holding today in South Africa. Enjoy:
How did you get into acting?
I never wanted to be an actress. It never occurred to me but let me say I was forced into it. My friend, Bovi, the comedian, persuaded me into it way back in 2005 when he wanted to do his television sitcom titled “Extended Family”. He invited me to be part of it but I told him acting was not my thing but he insisted that I should give it a shot, that he knows I have it in me. With much persuasion, I decided to give it a shot and I realised I wasn’t bad at it.
How did you actually blend in when you realised you have a thing of acting in you?
It wasn’t easy. It’s one thing to get the lines, get them in and cast them out right and another thing to connect with the viewers at home at the same time.
When I first got my lines I said to myself this isn’t so hard all I need is just to cram the lines and get them out right but immediately I got on set, with the lights and when it was time for action I completely forgot my lines. I mean everything just went blank. I said OK, so, it wasn’t so easy after all . After some time I just picked myself up and everything began to fall into place.
So what was your dream before you found yourself in acting?
I have always wanted to be a fashion designer before acting came calling. When I was small, at a point my mum stopped buying me clothes because I always cut them up and try to make them the way I thought they should be and she would be like ‘what was wrong with this girl?
At what point did you actually realise you have arrived as an actress?
Ugh, at what point? (laughing) when I started walking down the street and people recognise who I am, sometimes, even stopping me and wanting to take pictures with me and asking for autographs. That was like from two years ago.
Why is it that it is only soap operas you have ever done?

                                            Lillian Esoro
I really don’t have a particular reason for sticking strictly to soaps. Like I said earlier, acting wasn’t really something I wanted to do, so I just want to take one step at a time. When I really have my breakthrough doing soaps, with my feet firmly on the ground then I can start thinking of getting into movies. Trust me, there’s really a tough competition out there. You really want to get your game going on before you take the big steps. It’s gradually. But I shot some films last year. They will hit the market soon. Just keep your fingers crossed.
Can you share some of them with us?
I did “Strive”, in which I played along Bimbo Manuel, Godwin Opara, Yemi Blaq and others. It’s a very nice movie to look out for. Then there is “The Potter” and “The Next Door Neighbour”. One of them “Strive” should be premiered on the 7th of March. Most of them should be out this year
I can say last year was the year my career really kicked off. I had to travel back to back. Most times I was shuttling from Lagos to Abuja and Warri. (laughing) gradually, we are getting there.
Being a soap person, what would you say are the day to day challenges of acting in a soap opera?
Soap opera is about you trying to merge with the character you are taking one, day to day. You know it’s quite different from movies. It is a continuous character you have to build, maintain and nurture since you are not the writer you don’t know where the story is heading to. You have to watch the character carefully because you don’t want to suddenly outgrow the character. You have to watch what you eat so you don’t lose shape compared to the character. This gets tougher when you have other jobs you are doing because it’s like merging two different characters into your own personality.
Now, since you have had a taste of how it works in movies. Which would you say is more challenging: movie or soap?
Wow, that’s a tricky one. None of them is easy, trust me. But I will say maybe doing movies is more challenging because you have to go from one location to another. You are always on the move. It is different in a soap opera because it usually involves one family in a particular set. You are not moving around. Everything just revolves around the same people, the same location and maybe the same costume but in a movie you move around and you do different costumes.
On financial reward, which one is more rewarding?
I will say soap operas because it is a continuous thing. In a movie it’s just a one-off thing. You are paid just once. In soap operas, you are paid per episode, so, when you consider how many episodes in a year to about 3 to 4 movies you are likely to do in a year, soap operas tend to be more rewarding.
On “Clinic Matters”, you, Ejiro Okuramen and Naomi Ihemelu seem to have a good connection, which of the cast members would you say you have a unique relationship with?
When it comes to a programme of that nature, whether you like it or not, you have to maintain a good working relations with everyone on set, so, it doesn’t affect the job. I’m very comfortable working with Ejiro, Naomi and others as colleagues. They are wonderful people. I won’t say I’m choosing one over the other. Everybody is a family including “Biliki”, we are good off and on the set.
What’s the relationship between you and AY, the comedian?
AY is a very good friend of mine. We came from way back. He was the one who introduced me to Bovi, we have been friends like for ages. He started his show thing back in Abraka University and when he moved to Lagos he invited me over to be his presenter. I accepted even though I never presented before but it turned out right and since then we have been together.
But there’s a report that you two have parted ways, that you left him?
I didn’t leave him and we didn’t leave each other either, we are still there for each other. We understand each other that Lillian is an extremely busy person now, she’s not always available like she used to be and she’s there to help whenever she’s available. Come March of this year if am in the country I will be there for him.
But you have your own outfit now?
Yeah, but it’s different from what AY does. Mine is an event management company, his, is a show organising company. I package weddings and parties while AY does strictly shows.
How did you feel when you learned you are one of the nominees for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA)?
It still amazes me, trust me. When I first saw the advert of the award I said to myself this is a good award, that, whoever wins must truly deserve it. I never knew God had another plan for me. I never knew my name was ever going to come up in any of the categories because, hey, I just started, so many people have been there before me.
Along the line, my best friend, AY, kept telling me, that it does not matter how long, it is how well. But it still amazes me; look at my contenders (laughing), when I look at them I feel I must be doing well. I am humbled.
Sincerely, do you think you deserve it?
Oh yeah, I think I deserve it. Trust me, it is not easy playing that particular role of “Nurse Abigail”. I remember what the producer of the soap told me when I wanted to take up that role. He said:’ Lillian, are you sure you can take this role? Since I have known you I have never seen you upset or angry and talk like a fast talker as “Nurse Abigail”’. I told him it’s an act I have to put up and I gave it a shot. “Nurse Abigail” is not a character anyone can just do, so, I really give myself kudos for pulling it through and being recognise for it? I think I deserve it.
Doesn’t it scare you a little bit, considering the caliber of the contenders ( Funke Akindele, Mercy Johnson etc) you have to slug it out with for the award?
Of course, they are big names and they are good at what they do. But the fact that I am there means I deserve it. It doesn’t matter who eventually wins the award, that I got a nomination is good enough for me.
What has been the biggest regret of your career as an actress?
I can’t say I have any regret so far but sometimes I wished I had started acting earlier than now. But really, I can’t take it as a regret because what will be yours will be yours. They say better late than never. I have enjoyed every moment of my career.
And your biggest triumph?
I think seeing my name on the list of nominees for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award has been the biggest triumph of my career so far.
Which role would you say has been the most challenging role of your career so far?
It is still “Clinic Matters”, taking on the character of “Nurse Abigail” because I am totally the opposite of that.
Have you ever fallen in love before?
Yes I have.
And still in love?
(laughing) let’s just say I have fallen in love before. Eh, everyone has fallen in love before. Love is a beautiful thing. When I was in love it was like Heaven and I wished the feeling never went away. It was good while it lasted. It’s an experience everyone should have.
So, your heart was broken?
Oh, broken, scattered, shattered, ironed and everything. It was actually my broken heart that led me to success. After I fell out of love I was so heartbroken that I could not get my mind off it. So, to get my mind off it, I decided to do something else and that led me into forming my own company to start event management business but I don’t want to talk about it.
What’s your idea of sex generally and of premarital sex?
Well, it doesn’t matter what my views are on the subject, those who want to do it would still do it. As for me, if you feel it is the right time to do it go ahead. It’s a free world. You don’t want to live your life thinking of what the next person thinks of you.
Sex is very good. It calms your nerves. If you feel the time is right for you, go ahead, just make sure it is with the right person.
Would you marry a married man like some of your colleagues are doing right now?
Like I said, love is a beautiful thing. It leads you into unexpected places so I am not going to judge people on their choices. Who knows, I might end up falling in love with a married man tomorrow, so, I don’t want to judge anybody.
So, would you do a sex scene in a movie?
See, maybe this is one of the reason I love soap operas because this will hardly arise but then, you can’t dictate to the producer. But personally I don’t think I would want to do a sex scene. Why? Because my parents watch my movies.
Have you dated within the industry before?
No
Why not, there are so many good looking guys there?
No. I just wouldn’t date any of my colleagues. I hate mixing business with pleasure. It’s just me , I am a very principled person.

West Brom Fed Up With Odemwingie

Nigerian Peter Odemwingie continues to rile everyone close to him as his West Brom coach declared he was fed up with the player’s attitude yesterday.
“I haven’t got anything to say to [Peter]. If he’s got something to say to me he should come and say it to my face,” West Brom manager, Steve Clarke told a news conference on Thursday.
Clarke then told journalists that at no point in future would he want to discuss the Nigerian striker.
Odemwingie had taken to the social media outlet, Twitter, to say some unsavoury things about West Brom and the manager saying he wanted to be sacked by the club.
“If he’s got something to say to me he should come and say it to my face. He has to come to me. He’s the one that has the grievance, not me. I am absolutely bored with the whole episode.
“I’m not interested in what he said. The club will deal with it.”
Odemwingie has been fined about £150, 000 for his various Twitter outbursts.
“I don’t read Twitter,” continued Clarke. “I understand there were some more comments and I told Richard [Garlick], the technical director to deal with it in the way they see fit.
“I’m just disappointed that I have to spend so much time talking about one player when I have such a fantastic squad of players who have made such a fantastic contribution this season.
“I am fed up of talking about one player,” he concluded.
Clarke confirmed that Odemwingie is in the squad to face West Ham on Saturday.

WICKEDNESS:Two brothers docked for slicing neighbour’s scrotum over N200 in Lagos.

For 22-year-old Sunday Onyike, a Business Administration student of Yaba College of Technology, Yaba-Lagos, the hope of successfully rounding up his programme with the his peers have been dashed.
This is because of the prolonged treatment he has been receiving since March, 2011 as a result of serious injury he sustained during a scuffle with his neighbours identified as Augustine Eleyi, 28, and Emeka Eleyi, 32, from Ohozara in Mgbo Ebonyi State.
Sunday, the only son of his parents from Ohafia in AbiaState, had his scrotum slashed off during a fight with two of his neighbours.
Narrating the circumstances that led to the problem to Crime Guard at their Makoko residence, the father of the victim, Onyike Okpara,65, stated; “I have been living in this compound since 1970. I had five children but only two are alive; that is Sunday and his younger sister who works at LagosIsland.

I occupy two rooms in the building, one room which I sleep in, and the other at the back of the building, where my children sleep. When ever my daughter comes home from work, she buys and shares biscuits, sweets and gala to our neighbour’s children. So, the children always look forward to her returning from work.
More so, when ever she is sharing these goodies to the children, two of our neighbours, Augustine Eleyi and his elder brother, Emeka Eleyi (who normally sits on the chair I kept in front of my children’s room at the boys quarters to smoke Indian hemp), would always walk up to them, grab what ever is within their grasp, and flee. Instead of them to ask, they would grab what ever they can and run away. My daughter complained about this to me, and I had called and cautioned them to desist from such act, but they would not listen.
On the evening of March 1st, 2011, she was seated at the boys’ quarters with some children sharing some gala when Augustine Eleyi, came and as usual, grabbed one gala and ran away.
My daughter pursued him and in the process, N200 fell from his pocket. She picked it up and said it would serve as a payment for all the gala and biscuits he has been snatching from them.
Later on, on a second thought, she decided to give him back the money as she thought it was not worth it.
Having searched around for him, and not knowing of his whereabouts, she decided to give him the money the next day.
On the evening of that day which was the 2nd of March, 2011, after she got back from work, she took the money to him at the boys quarters, but he said he does not want it anymore. At that point, an argument ensued between them, during which his younger brother, Emeka Eleyi collected the money from my daughter.
As the argument continued, my son Sunday who was in the room preparing for the next day’s lecture, told his sister to let the matter be, and go to our main room and sleep, while he asked Augustine and Emeka to leave the place because they were disturbing him with their noise.
Augustine asked him if the place looked like his school hostel, that if he wants to read, he should pack his books and go to his school hostel. As the argument raged, he slapped my son, who grabbed him on his shirt asking ‘what have I done to you’?, Emeka rushed to them pretending as if we was going for peace only for him to grab my son’s two hands, while Augustine rushed and fetched a sharp object, and used it to slash my son’s scrotum.
I feel he actually wanted to cut off his male organ, but missed. My son’s cry of agony attracted the attention of passersby, because part of the compound is a thoroughfare; it was these passersby that ran to inform us at the other side of the building.
I ran to the place and met my son in a pool of his blood. On sighting us, the culprits bolted. I wanted to run after them but I was weakened by the sight of my son lying in pains, in the pool of his blood.
I also thought, if I go after them at that point, what would be the fate of my son when I get back, hence I opted to stay back, with the help of the other neighbours and some of our church members, my son was rushed to the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, from where we obtained a note to take him to the hospital. At that time, the GeneralHospital was on strike, we brought my son back to Adekunle Police Station, and they asked us to find a private hospital and take him there.
So, we took him to a private hospital at Iwaya. Augustine and Emeka were later apprehended by neighbours who went after them, and handed over to the police.”
Crime Guard learnt that the case has been at the Yaba Magistrate’s Court since 2011. Onyike Okpara further told our reporter that for one month his son was at the hospital in Iwaya, the Eleyi family only contributed N15,000 for the medical bills. He stated, “after the initial N15,000 installment they brought when Sunday was taken to the hospital, I have not heard from them.
Three times, my pastor and family called them to seek out ways to settle the matter amicably; when they come, they will be dribbling us, they will promise to contribute to the medical bills but we wont hear from them after that. I have so far spent almost N200,000, I have the medical bill to prove that”.
He also alleged that some members of the Eleyi family have threatened him to accept their term of payment, which is to pay N40,000, as their contribution; and withdraw the case from court. He stated, “On November 18, 2012 at about 9:30pm, they sent six men, out of which I recognized three, they came asking me to sign a document, I could not properly read through because of my poor sight, at that time of the night.
One of them practically told me that “ so many people die in Lagos every day, and their corpses are never discovered; I would want your corpse to be found”. What he meant by that, I do not know. I don’t feel safe anymore.
First, they tried to take my son away, now they are threatening me to accept a condition I don’t think any of them would accept if it were their son that was involved.”
Counsel to the defendant, Worer Obuagbaka, on his part told Crime Guard that what happened between the defendant and the complainant was unfortunate. According to him, they have been living peacefully together for some years, what we are trying to do is to see if we can settle the case amicably.” He said the defendants have been granted bail but are still in police custody because they have not been able to perfect their bail.

Hilarious-The ATM Of Happiness: ATM in Spain That Gives You Free Cash If You Promise To Give Others.

In Spain, an ATM machine dispenses free cash to people willing to share it with others.
“El Cajero de la felicidad,” or “The ATM of Happiness,” is part of Coca-Cola’s “Share Happiness” campaign.
Gizmodo‘s Jesus Diaz offered a little background information on the significance of free money in his home country:
“You probably have heard that it’s suffering a terrible recession. The situation is terrible: six million people without a job, corrupt politicians everywhere, gangster banks repossessing homes after receiving bailouts funded by taxpayers, and inept bureaucrats running every institution of the country. People are fed up, disgusted and poor. But there’s hope, as this video shows.”
“Get 100 euros ($131). Without card,” a sign above the machine, which has been placed in different Spanish cities, reads.
The only condition for the free cash? The receiver must share their mini-jackpot with others.
After the individual agreed to share the money, the ATM offered several options, like “hire an storyteller for the kids in your neighbourhood” or “buy diapers for a pregnant woman.”
Once the person agreed to a good deed, the money was theirs.
“The Happiness ATM was part of the company’s ongoing ‘Share Happiness’ campaign; participants who agreed to share were given ideas on how to share it through the ATM interface — instead of options to withdraw or deposit money, the participants saw sharing options. Coca-Cola states that they don’t know what everyone did with the money, but the experiences people shared with the company show that the participants took the challenge to heart,” Emma Hutchings wrote for PSFK.
As the video shows, many people did follow through with their promise to share. Recipients of the cash submitted videos of themselves spreading happiness with their ATM withdrawal.

Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists 2013

When this question pops up, we all scream Jay Z but according to Forbes, this is not the case. P. Diddy rakes in the most cash now. He rules the rest. Young Hova, Jay Z sits secure in 2nd place. This year, Dr Dre has cruised into the party with his custom headphone, Beats. Coasting just below him is Birdman, whose record company boasts of world-beaters flushing in the papers. And lowest on the money-rungs is 50 Cents, who’s been around for quite a while on our gaming consoles, and music stereos. So here’s a breakdown of their earning sheets:

1. – $580 million: A huge part of The Bad Boy Records founder’s wealth streams in from non-musical ventures, namely his contract with Diageo’s Ciroc. The deal rakes in an eight-figure annual payout and a nine-figure windfall if the brand is ever sold—and Ciroc’s value is at its highest right now.
 2. Jay Z - $475 million: He’s got the money-tap flowing with cash from megadeals like his $204 million Rocawear sale in 2007 and his $150 million pact with Live Nation the following year. He maintains his stakes in Roc Nation, Carol’s Daughter, the Brooklyn Nets and, more significantly, the Barclays Center itself. And he keeps sinking new money-wells by adding new partnerships with the likes of Duracell, Budweiser and Bacardi’s D’ussé Cognac.
 3. Dr Dre – $350 million: He owes it to his Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. A year after selling 51% of the company to handset maker HTC for $300 million in August 2011, Dre and his partners bought back half of the half they sold in 2012—and their investment continues to skyrocket in value due to Beats’ whopping 65% market share of the premium ($99 and up) headphone market.
 4. Bryan “Birdman” Williams - $150 million: Sailing smoothly on his Cash Money/Young Money empire. His ensigns includes Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne (the latter crossed the $100 million threshold for the first time this year, by our estimates, but remains just outside the top five). Birdman also recently launched a YMCMB clothing line and a spirit called GT Vodka.

5. 50 Cent – $125 million: The bulk of his fortune came from heavy sales of his music, merchandise, video games and books in the wake of his smash debut Get Rich or Die Tryin’- and particularly from his payout for the sale of his stake in VitaminWater parent Glacéau to Coca-Cola in 2007.

Speaking recently on a Channels TV programme, Davido disclosed that the main reason he parted ways with the young Asika was because he (Asika) was immature.

The superstar singer also explained that he left Asika’s management because they had “different views and issues,” adding that “we just had to go apart.”

Continuing, the son of Deji Adeleke, a billionaire businessman from Osun State, said, “we started this whole thing together and moved it to a certain level.”

7 Reasons My Boyfriend Should Get Me an iPhone For Valentine’s Day.

Okay so I don’t have a boyfriend, but I was thinking if I had one, I’m sure he would get me an iPhone. But just in case he needed some reasons to nudge him along, I would give him 7 great reasons. Ladies, please feel free to share this list with your man too.
1. He’s the only cockroach in my cupboard
The problem with young ladies today is that they spend too much time with too many different men, hoping that by spreading themselves around they will be able to make enough money to live the kind of lifestyle they want to live. The problem is that guys know when they are not the priority in your life, so some of them (if they really like you) may try to win you over by doing more and more for you, but most of them will just treat you like a side dish, and only use their spare change for you. But since my Lover Boo will be the only cockroach in my cupboard, the only one I spend my time thinking how to make happy, and feel special, then I know he will appreciate me enough to buy me an IPhone.
2. I love his mother even more than I love my own
Ladies, you know how guys are about their mothers. The woman who breast fed them for many months (and many years for some), the woman that risked her life to push their big gigantic weird shaped heads out of her womb… yes oh! That woman. I’ve already decided that I will love his mother, maybe even more than I love my own. If the woman tells me to jump, I will ask her how high. If she tells me that my dress is too short, I will ask if I can borrow her clothes. If she says that I need to spend more time with Jesus, I will ask her if she would like to be my prayer mentor. I don’t care where she is in the world, but I will visit her at least once a month, or maybe once a week, if she is close by. Even if she says I’m annoying I will ask her what I can do to stop being annoying. She will not find a better “almost-daughter-in-law” than me oh!
3. I cook for him and his family every Sunday and wash his clothes every Saturday
I just pray my parents are not reading this post right now because they have been trying to get me to cook for them, and wash their clothes, but as you all know, I’ve been very very very busy! Nevertheless, for my Lover Boo, I will cook whatever he wants me to cook for him. Is it Nigerian food, American food, Senegalese food, Martian food? It doesn’t matter, as long as I have the internet, I can find the recipe and cook for him, because his wish is my desire, especially around this Valentine’s season, and especially since I still don’t have my iPhone.
4. I buy him expensive gifts all the time
You people may be thinking “ahn ahn, if you have money to buy expensive gifts then why do you need him to buy the phone na?” Well my dear friends, let me explain. First of all, by him buying me the expensive iPhone, he is proving his undying love and affection and commitment to me. And then of course, “expensive gifts” are in the eye of the beholder. So depending on my income sha… buying a bag of M&Ms may be a very expensive gift for me oh. But anyway, it’s the thought that matters the most.
5. I wash his car
Yes o! my Lover Boo must have a car. I know some of you may be saying ahn ahn, that is so unfair, there are some good men out there that don’t have cars. Well since I’m such a generous person, I will leave those good men for you. For the rest of the good men with cars, please contact me if you’re unattached. Please I said unattached, not separated, engaged, contemplating engagement. No I mean emotionally, mentally, physically and everything else unattached, those are the only ones that should be trying to approach ladies. And for the rest of you that call yourselves single, but you have women that think the two of you are attached, shame on you. But anyway I digressed a bit. For my Lover Boo, I will wash his car for him at least once a week, but if my job people don’t mind me coming late to work on occasions, I will take the journey to his house early in the morning, no matter where he lives to wash his car, just so that he can have a nice sparkling car when he goes to work, and he can tell everyone that it’s his honey chocolate that washed the car for him, especially that one girl at his job (isn’t there always at least one) who tries to flirt with him. [insert eye roll]
6. I won’t be on Blackberry chat
There are so many relationships that breakup because of social media. The guy is talking, and the girl can’t hear because she’s on Facebook, or Twitter, or she is BB chatting. Haba! Why would you do that? Me on the other hand, if my Boo lover gets me an iPhone he won’t have to worry about me bbing anybody, since BB chat doesn’t work on the iPhone. It will just be me and him against the world. Okay maybe I will be using Instagram, but it will only be because I will be sharing pictures of my handsome Lover Boo with the world. And okay maybe I will be on Facebook and Twitter, but it will only be because, I have to let people know how in love I am with my Lover Boo. And maybe I will be on Pinterest, but it will only be because I want to share my wedding planning ideas with the world so that when my Lover Boo finally proposes I will be ready – I will not be slacking like those other girls. No not me! I am a good daughter of a good mother!
7. Finally, finally, finally. My Lover Boo should buy me an iPhone because he loves Jesus
Yes oh! I could end with that he loves me and I love him, but I think the greater love is the one he will have for Jesus. Jesus said give and whatever measure you give is the same measure that will be multiplied to you (my paraphrase). So if he wants to be successful in life, he better treat me well, and take care of me, otherwise success will not come to him. But I know because he loves Jesus, and he trusts Jesus to provide for his needs, my Lover Boo would not mind emptying his bank account to make sure that his Honey Chocolate has the iPhone of her dreams. And that is what I like to call the truest kind of love – Me and my iphone.
Ladies, please feel free to share this list with your man. If you have not done anything on the list, it’s not too late to start, at least around this Valentine’s season. And please let me know how many phones your man ended up buying for you.

Delta State:Mentally Deranged Daughter Heckles Dad, Mum To Death

It was a case of domestic disagreement gone sour, Thursday, in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

A 32 -year-old mentally deranged woman, simply identified as Elo Elili, sent her father, Warrant Officer Jonah Elili (rtd) and his wife, aged 75 and 65 respectively, to their early grave by hitting them severally with a pestle thus causing grief and sorrow in the family of two boys and five girls .

The remains of the couple were said to have been discovered early Thursday by a neighbour who came knocking on their door to buy from their petty shop.

According to sources, the woman who was eager to make a purchase, had peeped into the house after knocking effortlessly without any response and raised the alarm on seeing the husband and wife lying in the pool of their blood.

Tribune publisher, Wole Awolowo is Dead!

Second son of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Oluwole, is dead.
He died Wednesday evening at the Wellington hospital, St Johnswood, London, according to a statement released by the African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, Publishers of the Tribune titles, which he was the publisher.
He was aged 70.
His death was as a result of the complications he suffered as a result of a car crash that occurred on 30 September, 2006.
Confirming the death in a statement late Wednesday, Edward Dickson, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director, African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, Publishers of the Tribune titles, said Chief (Oluwole) Awolowo had been in and out of hospital, home and abroad, since he was involved in the ghastly accident seven years ago on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, in a statement signed by its spokespman, Yinka Odumakin, said Chief Oluwole’s death was a big blow to the deceased’s family as well as the group.
“His death is a big pain and loss to all of us who are followers of the sage. We pray that the Almighty will strengthen our Mama and the entire family in this difficult moment. May his amiable soul rest in perfect peace,” Odumakin said in the statement.
Born at Ibadan on the 3 December, 1942 into the prestigious family of the Late Obafemi Awolowo, Wole was the third child and second son of Papa Obafemi Awolowo and Mama Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo.
He never discriminated against friends and relations who knew him as ‘Unbreakable’, a title given to him by Papa Awolowo himself for his tenacity of purpose.
At the tender age of 12, he joined the youth wing of the NCNC, the political party led by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe which was opposed to his father’s Action Group. This was not an act of rebellion, but freedom of expression and association which in fact the late Papa Awolowo admired in his son.
From Ibadan Grammar School, he proceeded to Leighton Park School, Reading, Berdshire, England for further studies. He was admitted into the famous Leeds College of Commerce where he graduated in Business Studies in the early sixties.
After sojourning abroad successfully he returned to Nigeria when the inclement clouds were gathering on the Action Group Party and his revered father was being befitted by the political turbulence of that era.
He thereafter took up jobs at managerial cadre at the Nigerian Tobacco Company, Ibadan, the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation and the Nigerian Television Service, Lagos.
Having acquired experience in the public service, his entrepreneurial spirit propelled him into the business of Transportation, Petroleum Products dealership and Estate Management and Development amongst others
The responsibility of manning the family later fell squarely on him when his father was incarcerated and his beloved elder brother – Lawyer Segun Awolowo, passed on in terrible circumstances in 1963.
He became very active in politics. He joined the UPGA and effectively participated in the successful election of Chief TOS Benson as an Independent United Progressive Grand Alliance (UPGA) in 1964.
With the emergence of the military on Nigeria’s political landscape in 1966, he veered away completely from politics to active full-time business. Apart from transportation, petroleum products dealership and Estate Development, he was also a Director of Dideolu Stores Limited, Sopolu Investment Ltd, amongst others.
He won his first elective office in 1975 as a councilor representing Apapa in the then Lagos City Council. For discharging his responsibilities creditably in various city council committees, he had virtually no rival when the time came in 1979 to pick a UPN candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent Apapa Constituency.
He won a landslide victory and remained a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly till 1983 when the military came calling the second time in the chequered history of Nigeria.
A successful parliamentarian, he had a reputation as a smart political operator. With a high sense of responsibility and unusual capacity for hard work and vigour which are the hallmark of the Awolowo family, he was able to head several legislative committees on Environment, Education and Health.
He led the delegations that visited UK, Canada and USA on special assignments.
In 1984, the Board of the African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc appointed him Publisher/Vice Chairman of the Tribune titles.

Operators breathe easier as NCC slashes interconnect rates

BY Emma Elebeke
TELECOMMUNICATIONS companies operating in Nigeria will breathe easier forthwith as industry regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission, has decided to lower interconnect rates among service providers, which it said would deepen competition in the market among the operators.
Further, the regulator revealed that the proposed launch of mobile number portability, MNP earlier billed for this month has been moved forward to April 25 and is also expected to stir up more competition among operators and make them more responsible to subscribers to enable them get value for the money.
According to the Commission, the reduction in interconnect rates from N4.90k to N4.40k was in response to the yearnings of  Nigerian consumers  about the high cost of making calls in the country.

NCC boss, Juwah
NCC’s Director of Public Affairs,  Mr. Tony Ojobo who disclosed this Abuja said the announcement followed a stakeholders  meeting  in which all parties agreed to the reduction in the ICR to further deepen competition in the market and ensure that Nigerian consumers get value for their money.
“This development is a  direct response to the dynamics in the market and we are certain that it will make service providers more responsive to the consumers. Though, we see increase in traffic  because it is a win situation to both consumer and the service providers, we took everything into account before coming up with this reduction in the interconnect rate.
“We believe that mobile number portability will also make operators accountable to consumers as this will make quality of service improve far beyond what it used to be. We also believe that the ICR reduction and MNP regime are going to be an interesting time for all to watch,” he said.
According to NCC, the reduction is targeted at both the small and new entrants as well as the big operators.
Under the new arrangement, new entrants and small operators in the market who have 0-7.5 Percent subscriber base will now pay N5.20k instead of N6.40k they initially pay and  from 2015 the rate drops to N3.90k.
For the big operators, the initial N4.90k they pay will reduce to N4.40k and by 2015, the rate drops to N3.90. All these take effect from April 1st, 2013.
The reduction is expected to reduce the cost of making calls from one network to another and also calls made within a network.
As part of the commission’s effort to instil discipline in the industry, Mr. Ojobo said the commission has fined MTN the sum of N90 million  for failing to meet up with the recently reviewed  Key Performance Index, KPI by the commission.
According to the commission, the telco is expected to pay the fine on or before April 3rd and failure to do so attracts more penalties.
It will be recalled that the commission, as part of its regulatory functions, conducts a test of the Key Performance Index, KPI to ascertain the level of compliance by operators.
Meanwhile, the commission has postponed the official launch of the mobile number portability project  to April 25th from the initial march ending as earlier announced.
The change of date for the MNP launch, according to Ojobo was taken in good faith to enable the contractors complete the test-running process in Awka and Minna respectively and also to fine-tune all the grey areas that could lead to break down of the porting process.
Mobile number portability is a system that will offer mobile telecommunication subscribers   the opportunity to move from one network to another without interference.

Madness: Brazilian Model Breastfeeding Calves (PHOTOS)

Uproar has ensued online after a tried to breastfeed a herd of cows in a series of stomach-churning snaps, no pun intended here.
The former Pamela Anderson lookalike Sabrina Boing Boing photographed herself lifting up her top and offering her breasts to a calf in the snaps, The Sun reports.
The model shared the snaps with her 17,000 followers on photo-sharing site Instagram.
The 28-year-old model slash DJ captioned the photos: “Testing done with mammals, so far everyone wants suck lol.”
The cows had no interest in her offerings as she later commented, “And he would not even suck.”
The least insulting photo of a bad bunch, believe us.
Although there is no photo evidence of her feeding the , the photos have provoked hundreds of angry tweets who have branded the model “sick” and “disgusting”.
But, as the D-list celebs say, no publicity is bad publicity. Sabrina responded to the angry tweets, saying, “”Some things don’t need to make sense, just worth it!”
And, “I do not consider myself in any way ordinary”.

MOVIE:Why we make s*x look real in our movies in Ghana-Yvonne Okoro

Yvonne Okoro Talks About S*x…The Contract Bags Six Nominations

This is what Nigeria/Ghana actress, Yvonne Okoro, said when she was asked to defend Ghollywood on n*dity and s*x in their movies, "I think sometimes when you are acting, you feel like doing something that you want to be remembered for. Maybe in the course you overdo it. It depends on the script. I think in Ghana we wanted to start something, like a Trans-setter.

Our culture does not allow topics like s*x and n*dity but in a way sometimes I think we are also being hypocritical. A Hollywood movie will come, we will watch it and be happy and compliment them.

I think if you are going to do n*dity, you should not do it in a tacky way. It should be done with what will conform to our culture. I think it is about choice, if you think you want to remove yourself and think it will help your character and you don’t have a problem with it, it is fine."

The actress whose maiden effort, the Contract movie, has bagged six nominations is already happy about the new development and she is doing everything possible to hit the location soon for another fantastic movie.

Chris Brown Speaks On Beating Rihanna

“I Tried To Show Her How Sorry I Was!”

Since his infamous fight with Rihanna back in 2009, Chris Brown has been trying (sometimes dodging) questions about his violent track record.
And on Tuesday morning, the R&B singer phoned into Ryan Seacrest to talk about his current projects and surprisingly admits to his character flaws, and being arrogant and hotheaded when the infamous fight went down.
Here’s what he told Seacrest:
“People are entitled to their opinions. I can’t go around blaming. It’s all about my responsibility and me growing up as a man.
“So I think now that I’m becoming older, and trying to mature in this life under the public eye at all times, I have to focus on doing the right thing and being more of a humble individual.”
“I just tried my best to be the best man I could be over the years and just show her how remorseful and sorry I was for the incident and that time was probably the worst part of my life and being that she has and she’s a wonderful person I’m eternally grateful and thankful,” Brown said.
He also chatted about his recent altercation with a valet attendant outside a charity event over a $10 fee in Los Angeles, saying:
“I actually gave the valet $100 before heading into the bowling alley. So when I came out, the argument started,…and I told myself I have to just shut up and be like, ‘Security go get the keys!’ I’ll be by the car.”
He then talked about being changed man:
“Being at that young age, I can tell you I was arrogant and definitely hotheaded. Everybody has a temper, but for me it was not knowing how to control it when I thought I had the world in my hands.”
Chris also spoke about his current relationship with Rihanna:
“It’s still like we’re kids. I try not to be too grown and be like, ‘Lets have candlelight dinner every night.’ I try to make sure everything is fun. It has to be fun and it has to be genuine.”

Angelina Jolie Appears Ditching Engagement Ring for Simple Gold Band .

Did Angelina Jolie finally tie the knot with Brad Pitt? The wedding rumor re-emerged after Us Weekly pointed out that the "Maleficent" actress was spotted wearing what seemed to be a simple gold band on her ring finger instead of her diamond engagement bling.

Angie was rumored ditching her extravagant gem when visiting a rescue camp in the Democratic Republic of Congo earlier this week. Accompanied by British Foreign Secretary William Hague, the U.N.'s special envoy was on a mission to end warzone rape in the area.

The "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" actress and the "World War Z" actor have been together for eight years after playing a couple in "Mr and Mrs Smith". They have three biological children together and adopted three others from outside the United States.

The longtime couple was engaged last spring and has repeatedly been hit with wedding rumors ever since. The father of six once vowed they would not get married until gay marriage was legalized, but later hinted that they had changed their minds.

"We made this declaration some time ago that we weren't going to do it till everyone can. But I don't think we'll be able to hold out," he said. "It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment."

Vannessa Amadi is engaged!!!

UK based PR consultant, Vanessa Amadi got engaged to her boyfriend of two years, Tee. We hear the wedding will take place in Nigeria and London later in the year.

Do you know her?

Entertainment:Jesse Jagz bows out of Chocolate City

Nigeria’s hip hop sensation, Jesse Abaga aka Jesse Jagz has bowed out of Chocolate City Music label.
A short statement released online, Jesse Jagz confirmed that he has left Audu Maikori’s record label, Chocolate City.
Jesse, whose elder brother, MI Abaga, released a new track titled ‘Chairman’, recently explained that he would not be renewing his deal with the label and he would also be concentrating on his own entertainment outfit.

His statement:
I, Jesse Garba Abaga (also known as ‘Jesse Jagz’) an artist formerly signed to Chocolate City Music label hereby wishes to notify my fans and the general public about my voluntary exit from the label.

After my initial two year contractual agreement with Chocolate City, I do not wish to renew my contract with them and as such have proceeded to continue my music career with my new team at Jesse Jagz Nation.

I still maintain a cordial relationship with the management of
Chocolate City and my former label mates and I wish them the best in all their future endeavours.
Any further information will be passed across through my publicist but until then, have a good day. Look out for my sophomore album JagZNation Vol. 1 coming out in July 2013′.
This comes as a sudden shock to everyone including some staff and executives at Chocolate City but those in the know will tell you this was long expected.
Close sources to Jesse Jagz and Chocolate City tell us there had been an ungoing war between the ‘Wetin dey’ singer and the popular label.
Jagz, one source told NET, ‘was fed up with the way the label was handling his career and decided to frustrate them in return.’
Jagz last release was his debut album in May 2010, after then he sort of went into comatose, save for his production of Ice Prince and BrymO’s albums in 2011 and 2012 and a few minor releases, we might not have noticed his presence.
Chocolate City have a one-year/one-artiste project run’, a staff at Chocolate City tells NET.
(2008-2009 was M.I, then ’09-’10 was Jesse, ’10-’11 was M.I again, ’11-’12 was Ice Prince, ’12-’13 was for Brymo, this year’s run ’13-’14 was meant to be for Jesse Jagz).
But Chocolate City signed three new acts – Pryse, Nosa and Victoria Kimani and started concentrating on the last two when they noticed Jesse had started giving them trouble’, our source adds.
Jesse would refuse to go to the label’s studio at Lekki Phase 1, he and the other choc boys M.I and Ice Prince had built separate studios in their Palmgroove, Lagos residence. Jesse just kept making music, a lot of music, over 100 songs’.
Then there were allegedly two strong claims the label made against ‘Jargo’; the first that he owed a lot of money.
‘Choc City said Jargo owed them money, there were several cases where he would travel to the North for a gig and wouldn’t bring back anything to the label. At times, he would claim they paid him just to appear and that didn’t hold under his contractual agreement’.
The second was his alleged substance abuse. There are very strong claims that Jesse Jagz, a truly talented rapper and producer, is addicted to Marijuana.
Everybody smokes ‘igbo’ but Jesse’s own was too much! He would be reeking of Igbo smell when he came up to the studio to hang out. Don’t you see his Instagram photos, don’t you read his revolutionary tweets? He thinks he’s Fela or Bob Marley for Christ’s sake!
Sources say Sola Oladebo, Jesse’s manager for the last three years, is tired of the whole situation.
Sola is tired, fed up but can’t leave him now, he has invested too much time in Jargo. At a time, there was nothing to do as Jesse career was dormant, so when Choc City fired Ice Prince’s former manager in 2012, they made Sola the interim manager’.
We are told till the night of his shocking announcement, elder brother M.I and the other Choc Boys were unaware of his self-imposed exit. M.I had just released his comeback single for his next album ‘The Chairman’ when Jesse dropped the bombshell.
M.I was as shocked as everyone else. He’s not happy Jesse didn’t tell him of the situation first. He has erased all thoughts of leaving Choc City now as a sign to show loyalty’, a friend to M.I says.
An insider told us over the weekend, that the last straw that broke the camel’s back was when Audu Maikori, top exec at the label summoned him via E-mail, he simply replied with two words ‘F**k You’.
Maikori could not be reached and we’re told that following Jagz’ statement, he immediately contacted all staff (including artistes) and instructed them not to speak to the press.
Attempts to reach him and other staff at the label through emails, phone calls and text messages have been unsuccessful.
Jesse’s manager could not be reached for comments as his mobile phone was switched off.
Will other acts follow suit? An insider tells us ‘Watch out for Brymo, he might also throw in the towel soon. He had issues with Vice Presido M.I in 2012, he also has grown wings, you can never tell’.
But there are the likes of M.I and Ice Prince  - two prized acts at the successful label who have publicly assured fans Choc City will remain home for a long time.
Jesse Jagz, 28, signed to the label along with his elder brother Jude ‘M.I’ Abaga in 2008 after the gifted rapper became an instant success with his debut ‘Talk About It‘.
Jesse Jagz in late 2009 went on to release his debut ‘Jagz of All Trades’ which spurned the hit songs ‘Wetin dey’ amongst other chart topping cuts.
