Triplets - two guys and a girl, got married same
day. Mayowa, Tope and Funmi Ogunsemo (1st, 3rd and 6th in the photo above)
married their heartthrobs yesterday April 13th at the Shell Hall of the Muson
Centre in Lagos.
Overcomers World Outreach, the church where Nollywood actor, Solomon
Akiyesi attempted to marry another while still legally married, has
responded to the incident that happened yesterday. See their statement
below, written by Chika Moses, who is a journalist and the daughter of
Bishop N.E. Moses, the General Overseer of the Overcomers Church.
What was meant to be a day of celebration – the wedding ceremony of one
of our members Uloma Agwu to Mr. Solomon Akiyesi at the Overcomers
Church World Outreach in Aguda – was sullied by an ugly incident.
Immediately following the praise and worship session and before the
officiating commenced, a woman who claims to be the lawful wife of the
groom disrupted the ceremony. She was accompanied by people who sought
only to wreck havoc in the church. They were unruly and violent.
We regret the ugly series of events that followed this brash display.
At the Overcomers Church, we do our due diligence to ensure a couple
set to wed is right in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of God. To
the best of our knowledge, Mr. Akiyesi, was unmarried. The Overcomers
Church World Outreach regrets that the woman who disrupted the wedding
chose such a time to do so. There is no ideal situation here, but it
would have been right that she bring the case before church officials in
a manner befitting a house of worship. This was not the case.
The groom, Mr. Akiyesi, has apologized to the Church, his
bride-to-be, Ms. Agwu, and family and friends that gathered for the
wedding. “This happened because I tried to cut corners,” he said. He
admits he did not properly dissolve his previous marriage to his first
wife and says he is determined to do what is necessary to rectify the
awful situation. We apologize for the ugly scene this caused at our
Church and apologize to those who witnessed it. It is not exemplary
behavior and not who we are as a Church.
The General Overseer of the Overcomers Church World Outreach, Bishop
N.E. Moses, addressed the congregation after order was restored.
Bishop Moses prayed for the couple, Mr. Akiyesi and Ms. Agwu, but he did not legally wed them – no
documents were signed so as not to disobey the law. Mr. Solomon Akiyesi
and Ms Uloma Agwu will not be legally joined together until the matter
is properly settled by lawful authorities.
Our Bishop has urged us to take a lesson from this and be careful of
the decisions we make in life, so the consequences don’t hurt us in the
future. It is a lesson we take well.
We stand by Ms. Agwu. She has been a dedicated member of the church and
we will continue to support her and Mr. Akiyesi. It is our hope and
prayer that in all of this, God is glorified and His house of worship
above reproach.

Four people who were in an Ikoyi Golf Club van that skidded of the
bridge into the Majidun River along Ikorodu road in Lagos last night have not
been found yet.
The van with registration number KSF 918 AU was pulled out damaged, but
there was no sign of the four passengers.
Some reports believe they might be dead but General Manager, Lagos State
Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Femi Oke- Osanyintolu, said rescue
operation continued Saturday last night to recover the bodies.
“A Hilux van owned by Ikoyi Golf club, plunged into Majidun river in Ikorodu
at about 5.30 am this morning. Upon notification of the incident, stakeholders
moved to the scene and rescue operation commenced.
“The vehicle has been recovered, however, bodies of the four occupants are
yet to be recovered.”
According to reports, Oke-Osanyintolu said rescue operation had intensified
to ensure that the missing persons are recovered and even navy officers and
local divers were seen at the scene helping out with rescue operation.
The Spokesman of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA),
South-west, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the agency had mobilised its
officials to the scene of the accident for the rescue operation.
He said the bodies of the four men were yet to be recovered by 11 pm
Saturday night but assured that NEMA would mobilise more of its officials for
the operation, reports claim.
Kolawole Ahmed, a manager with Ikoyi Golf Club, closed from work early Saturday morning.
He headed for home in Ikorodu area of Lagos, driving a Toyota Hilux
Pick-up van, belonging to Ikoyi Golf Club, in company with three others.
But then tragedy struck around Majidun River along Ikorodu as the
vehicle, apparently on top speed, skidded past the edge of the bridge
over the river and plunged into it. The four persons were feared killed
Saturday night, as though a search party recovered the damaged vehicle
with An eyewitness who gave his name as Solomon said, “The accident
happened in the morning when I was driving out; it is like the driver
lost control or something. He didn’t slow down before approaching the
bridge. The next we saw was the vehicle somersaulted and plunged into
the river.”
Innocent girls at the Light of Hope Orphanage has
finally describe how the owner of the orphanage, Pastor Olatayo Atunde,
molested them repeatedly. From outside, the Light of Hope Orphanage in Akute
looks like every other orphange. But the things that go on inside are gory:
“Daddy started sleeping with me when I was 10. I have two blood brothers at the
orphanage who I reported to but they have not been able to do anything about
it. On one occasion, when he was sleeping with me, I ran into another room but
he chased me and warned me never to run away from him again.” ––said one of the
girls he allegedly molested.
According to Punch, the orphanage which was founded in 1996 by Pastor Atunde
receives donations from multinational companies, non-governmental
organisations, and other concerned members of the public who were deceived to
believe that Pastor Atunde has genuine love for the vulnerable children.
However, recent sexual allegations by some of the female inmates have shattered
the positive image the orphanage once enjoyed. It all started when two young
girls from the home told their secondary school teacher that they were molested
by Daddy (Pastor Atunde), who runs the facility.
One of the orphans 14-year-old Atinuke [not real name] confirmed that he slept
with her and many other girls at the orphanage. Atinuke, who is now in custody
of an NGO – Project Alert on Violence Against Women – said she lost her
virginity to Pastor Atunde at the age of 10 and has lost count of the number of
times he has had sex with her.
She said, “I also reported the matter to the orphanage administrator, Aunty
Hannah, and she said she would address the matter but daddy continued to rape
me. Daddy usually molested us around 2am in his room. His wife does not always
sleep in his room. She sleeps at the crèche where the younger orphans are
staying.”
Pastor Atunde was also alleged to have sacked one of the employees at the
orphanage that dared to challenge him. Another orphan, Salewa [not real name],
told Punch that she was barely 12 when he started having sexual relations with
her.
She said she had a sister at the orphanage who was in the university. Salewe
disclosed that she had also caught Pastor Atunde having sex with another
orphan.
“Daddy has been having sex with at least 10 of us. We are mostly between the
ages of 8 and 14. I reported to Aunty Hannah and when she challenged daddy, he
laid a curse on me,” she said.
Pastor Atunde has been released by the police, they say they are investigating.
But a resident, who is an employee of the orphanage told Punch that, “After
Atunde’s release, he hired some trucks to move the orphans to different
locations so that if the state government shuts down the orphanage, he would
still be able to operate directly or through a representative.
“Atunde receives donations from banks, multinationals, churches and other
members of the public and the smartest thing for him to do right now, is to
relocate the children and open another orphanage in a different name if
possible. Most of the girls were relocated to another property within the area
while others were taken to the Shangisha area of Lagos State. The police should
not have granted him a bail.”
Doose Nomhwange left home one morning, unaware that danger lurked
ahead. Her friend of many years lured her to a man who traded in
human parts. But fate pulled a fast one on her captor who, on the verge of
killing her, became mad. Call it a demonstration of power between
the forces of light and darkness in which the former roundly won.

hell and came back alive to tell her story.
Unforgettable Day
I had lived in Lagos where I had all my kids. But later, I lost my husband.
Some time ago, I went back to Lagos to find what to do to take care of my two
sets of twins. I was a full-time housewife when I had my children. I intended
going back to school to further my education but my husband, an Ogoni,
from Rivers State, stopped me because I was too young, and we agreed that I
could go back to school when I finished having my babies. But later, things
became tough because my husband was a businessman. When he died, I had
to return to Benue State because I was the firstborn of my parents and I
didn’t want to take my children to Rivers State because Benue has more
food. So, I returned to Lagos, and that was when I met a man. He owns an oil
and gas company (name withheld) and he employed me personally as a marketer,
canvassing for people who would buy oil, diesel, fuel and all that.
On this fateful day, I went to see my father who was ill and on admission
at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. There was something they
needed for my father’s treatment and they didn’t have it in Ibadan. So,
they wrote it down for me to buy and I went to Boluke Pharmacy on Awolowo Way
in Ikeja. As soon as I walked out from the pharmacy because I lived at Ojodu
Berger, I saw Aisha, a lady I had met long ago at the office of my cousin who
was a stylist and we became friends.
When I turned, I saw the gorgeously dressed man walking towards the gate.
I thanked him for the entertainment and told I was leaving. The man said: “Do
you know who you are talking to? You are an idiot! Common, shut up! Don’t you
know I am a chief?” Later, he said in Yoruba: “Omo Oba”, and some young men
including two that looked like bouncers came. On his orders, they collected my
handset and handbag, and took me upstairs.
So, they took me upstairs and flung me into one room and shut the door. Inside
the room, I saw many clothes, bags and more than 1000 SIM cards. About 15
minutes later, the man appeared and ordered me to, “pull off everything and
drop it there”, and I obeyed. READ MORE

Attired in white and grey,
